De-Tan Remedies for face and body
1. Coconut Milk
The Vitamin C present in Coconut milk helps nourish and hydrate skin and works as a great de-tan removal agent.
Squeeze out organic coconut milk and dab it all over your face and body using cotton. Leave it on your skin till it gets absorbed completely. Wash off with a mild cleanser and repeat every alternate for visible results.
2. Lemon Juice and Honey
Most of us know that Lemon works great as a bleaching agent, which helps in lightening skin color and de-tan. Honey acts a excellent nourishing source, that helps in hydrating and moisturizing your skin.
Mix equal amounts of Lemon juice and honey. Apply the mixture on your affected areas and let it sit for 20 mins before your wash-off with cold water.
Note – Avoid honey if you have oily skin (or) don’t allow it to sit for too long time on your skin.
3. Orange and Curd
Citric acid and the vitamin C present in Orange helps as an excellent exfoliator and removes tan and gives you a youthful skin on regular usage. Grind Fresh Orange peel and curd together.
Apply the mixture on your face and body and allow it to sit for 1 hour & Wash off with cold water and repeat every alternate days for a week.
Note – citric acid in orange might feel little pricking when applied, but wash-off if it is unbearable and apply some rose water on your skin.
4. Oatmeal and Buttermilk
Ayurvedic Studies say that, Oatmeal is an key ingredient for ubtan receipe and works as an excellent exfoliating and cleansing agent. Buttermilk on the other way is rich in lactic acid, which softens your skin, removes tan and improves skin tone.
Soak 2 tsp. of oatmeal on half cup water for 5 to 10 mins and drain the water. Mix the oatmeal with fresh buttermilk and apply the pack on the affected area. Massage for 10 mins and leave it on for 15 mins and wash-off with plain water.
Cucumber is highly beneficial for tanned and sunburnt skin. Cucumber has a cooling effect and helps remove tan.
Shred a cucumber, and squeeze to get the juice out. Using a cotton ball, apply the juice all over your skin. Let it dry and wash. You may also add a little lemon juice for added benefits.
6. Tomato juice and curd
Tomato is rich in antioxidants that helps in brightening skin. Yogurt on the other hand contains lactic acid which softens the skin and helps even out skin tone.
Mix 2 tsp. of tomato juice to 1 tsp. of curd and apply the mixture all over affected area. Allow it to sit till it gets absorbed completely. Repeat every day for a week for brighter looking skin.
7. Honey and Papaya
Papaya is rich in natural enzymes that have skin bleaching and exfoliating properties. Honey on the other hand is a natural moisturizer and a skin soothing agent. It is also rich in antioxidants that remove free radicals from the skin which cause ageing.
Take 4-5 cubes of ripe papaya; the riper the better. Add 1 teaspoon of honey to it and mash it up using the back of a spoon or a fork. Mix well until a smooth paste is formed. Apply this paste all over the tanned skin and let dry. Wash it off after 20-30 minutes with water.
8. Strawberry and Milk cream
Strawberries have natural skin brightening properties. The creamy goodness of milk cream lock in the moisture deep into the skin making it look supple and healthy.
Take a few ripe strawberries and mash them well using a fork. Add 2 teaspoon of fresh cream to it and whisk well to form a lump-free paste. Use this on your face and tanned skin and let it stay for 15-20 minutes. Wash it with cold water.
9. Saffron and Milk
Saffron (Kesar) is a traditional beauty ingredient found in Indian households. Using saffron is a natural way to get a glowing skin. It is also known to improve skin texture, treats ailments like pigmentation, dark circles, pimples, and acne, and lighten darkened skin.
Soak a few strands of saffron in milk for some time. Apply the milk on affected areas. To provide more moisture to the skin, saffron can be soaked in cream instead of milk.
10. Almond Scrub
Almonds are a rich source of Vitamin E which nourish the skin and heal it from any damage from the sun. Almonds also have bleaching properties that help in removing tan.
Create a paste of almond by grinding it with rose water. Use it as a tan removal scrub on the affected areas. Squeeze some lemon into the paste prepared by grinding almonds with rose water to increase its effectiveness in removing tan.
Remove tan from Hands and Feet
Yogurt and Besan (Bengal Gram flour)
Apply this pack to remove tan from hands and feet.
1. Take 2-3 tbsp of besanand add 1-2 tbsp of plain, unflavoured yoghurt to it.
2. Mix to form a smooth paste. Add 3-5 drops of rose water for fragrance.
3. Smooth this mix on your tanned hands and arms like a wet mask and let it stay for 20 mins.
4. Wash with cold water by gentle scrubbing movements.
5. Repeat this 3-4 times a week for best results.
